Dresses and heels are an age-old combination.
Long dresses usually fit best with a glamorous shoe, something special and dressy. Although some light summery dresses might look o with flats, most people feel sexier and more attractive when adding a pair of heels to a dress. Tight fitting dresses loo best with slim heels that continue the sleek, refined look of the dress. Minidresses offer the most versatility because you can add just about any type of shoe to them. Shopping for a dress to go witha pair of shoes you love is often an easier approach. The shorter the skirt, the higher the boot top you can wear, all the wayup to thigh high boots. Another great choice for a mini dressis a pair of tall boots. Dresses that have a Western appeal may look best paired with boots.

Remember that your shoes don't have to match the dress exactly! Try adding a pair ofbright red shoes to a black dress for a combination that stands out in a crowd!Dresses with a retro flair harkening tothe 50's such as halter dresses with flared skirts will look best with shoes that fit the image. The biggest and most important choice to make when picking what to add to a dress is of course the shoes. Once you have fallen in love with a pair of shoes, the dress can be just as much an accent to the shoes as the other way around.

Chunky hels with shorter dresses can be a bit to clunky, especially if the dress is tight and slinky.

Classic pumps with a high heel, strappy high heeled sandals, wedges, and mules - any type of shoe can go with this drss. Look for pumps, sling backs or D'Orsay style shoes that have a 50's appeal as well. Mini dresses also look best with the wildest and craziest shoes in your closet - platforms, the tallest of heels; they all look great with a mini dress.

Although a lot of people choose the shoes to go with the dress, that's not always the best way to go.
